M. to construct Silver City & Northern Ry. as chief engineer; 1892 entered mining as supt. Graphic mine at Hadley, N. M.; 1892-6 mined in Mexico and Cripple Creek, Colo.; returned to N. M.. 1896, as lessee of copper mines at Santa Rita; 1899 incorporated Gilchrist & Dawson mining and merc. bus., headquarters at Fierro; 1904 acquired interest in GOS Cattle Co., of which he is treasurer; mem. Elks.
