March 10, 1858, Santa Fe, N.M.; s. of Ignacio and Marcelina O. de Lucero; early educ. pub. schools, Taos Co.; entered store of uncle and worked until 22 years of age, then established himself in mercantile business, farming and stockraising, in Chacon, Mora Co.; postmaster in Chacon past 15 years.
