Chimayó Rebellion

US Invasion of New Mexico

Taos Rebellion
In January 1847, New Mexicans resisting US military occupation, killed Governor Charles Bent and other members of his household in Taos. Colonel Sterling Price led US forces against the rebels, defeating them at Taos Pueblo
Treaty of Guadalupe Hidalgo
The 1848 Treaty of Guadalupe Hidalgo ended the war between the United States and Mexico. By its terms, Mexico lost almost half of its territory, including parts of present-day Arizona, California, New Mexico, Texas, Colorado, Nevada, and Utah.
