SIMMS, ALBERT GALLATIN: Republican, of Albuquerque, N. Mex.; born in Washington, Ark., 1882; attended private schools and University of Arkansas; resided from 1906 to 1912 in Monterrey, Mexico; came to Silver City, N. Mex., in 1912; admitted to the bar in 1915; during World War served as field director for American Red Cross at Camp Cody, N. Mex.; president Citizens National Bank of Albuquerque, 1920‑24; president Hempstead Mortgage Co.; in 1914 married Katherine Atherton Mather (died 1921, leaving no issue), of Niagara Falls, N. Y., a descendant of Richard Mather, of Harvard College; served as member of council, city of Albuquerque; chairman of county commission, Bernalillo County, and member of New Mexico Legislature; elected to the Seventy‑first Congress and took his seat on March 4, 1929.
