1846 US invasion of New Mexico
Brigadier General Stephen Watts Kearny led United States forces invading and occupying New Mexico in 1846. Forces under Alexander Doniphan clashed with Mexican troops, routing them at the Battle of Brazito on Christmas Day.


1847 Taos Rebellion
In January 1847, New Mexicans resisting US military occupation, killed Governor Charles Bent and other members of his household in Taos. Colonel Sterling Price led US forces against the rebels, defeating them at Taos Pueblo. Read More


1848 Treaty of Guadalupe Hidalgo
