Grantees & Landholders Settlers & Families

Advocates

A meeting hall.

As time progressed, the land title transferred, and boundaries shrunk, and the people of the land began to lose their rights.  By the turn of the century, grazing rights, water rights, and the ability to stay on the land were all in contention. The settlers’ families were not alone in their struggles. Advocates stepped forward to help the settlers fight for their rights to the land. Some were priests, some were important people in society, and some were politicians.
