Born in Nelson County, KY.; educated in county schools; attended medical school of the Transylvania University at Lexington, Ky.; was graduated in 1828 and moved to Liberty, Clay County, Mo.; later in same year moved to Chihuahua, Mexico; married in Mexico in 1838; in 1848 moved to Santa Fe, and married Dolores Perea, widow of Mariano Chavez; twice appointed Governor of the Territory by President Lincoln, serving from 1861 to 1866; died at Santa Fe, July 1866. Henry Connelley served as governor of New Mexico under the administration of the Territorial Government of the United States from 1861 to 1866.
