Truth or Consequences
T or C was originally a small farming community called Las Palomas, founded alongside other settlements such as Chicillo and Monticello. The town grew thanks to the silver boom and the rise of ranching in the area, changing its name to Hot Springs, to signify the wealth of mineral springs. Thanks to I-25, Truth or Consequences has survived while its neighbors have faded. In the 1940's, the town changed its name to Truth or Consequences to win national publicity on the radio show of that name.
