John Lee House
     

JOHN LEE HOUSE, del. Quay county; merchant, (Dem.); b. May 31, 1868, (in covered wagon) on Big Blue River, Choctaw Nation, Indian Territory; s. of Francis Marion and Laura (Hamilton House; educ. pub. schls. Hamilton Co., Texas; Liberty Normal and Business College, Liberty Hill, Texas; farmer and rancher, Texas, 1891-1902, in meantime learned photography and traveled over West Texas for two years; came to New Mexico, Jan, 1, 1902 and located on a homestead, later establishing townsite of House, Quay county; est. merc. bus. in House, 1906; pres. Savings Bank of Taiban, 1910, at present director same bank; U. S. Commissioner, 1906-9; elected November 7, 1911, as a member first State House of Representatives from 25th dist.; mem. Elks, Masons, I.O.O.F., W.O.W.
